Why Adventures by Disney® Is the Trip Our Family Keeps Going Back To
I'll be honest with you, I'm a travel advisor who has helped hundreds of families plan incredible vacations. And yet, Adventures by Disney® is the one experience I keep choosing for my own family, year after year. That says everything.
We've done the AZ/Utah adventure, Southern California, and this summer we're heading out on our third. Not because I feel like I have to... because we genuinely cannot imagine stopping.
The Disney parks are a magical way to step into the stories you love. But have you ever wondered what it would feel like to take that same Disney magic and layer it over the real world? Ancient canyons. Hollywood history. The actual studio where your favorite Disney films came to life?
That's exactly what Adventures by Disney® does. And once you experience it, a regular vacation starts to feel like it's missing something.
Let Me Take You Back to Monument Valley
Our AZ/Utah adventure didn't go exactly as planned and that turned out to be one of the best things that could have happened.
A snowstorm rolled into the Grand Canyon and what was supposed to be a two-hour bus ride to Monument Valley stretched into five. For most trips, that kind of disruption would unravel the whole day. But our Adventure Guides didn't even blink.
Before we knew it, they had a Plan B. Then a Plan C. Then a Plan D. Each one thoughtfully adapted to our group, our kids, and what would actually work in the moment. That's not something you get from a standard tour operator. That's the Disney difference... and I saw it in real time.
Earlier in the trip in Sedona, my husband and I slipped away for an optional sunrise hike while our teens slept in because that's what Adventures by Disney® understands. Not everyone in your family wants the same thing at the same moment, and they plan for it. Then in Moab, when most of our group wanted to do the horseback trail ride, they arranged an exclusive session just for us at the resort. Private. Unhurried. Exactly right.
Then Came Southern California... and I Still Can't Pick a Favorite Moment
If the AZ/Utah trip showed me what Adventures by Disney® does when things go sideways, Southern California showed me what they do when everything goes perfectly.
We visited the Disney Burbank Studio, and I don't say this lightly…. it was unforgettable. Walking through that space, learning the history, and then sitting down and actually talking with current Disney Imagineers, that's not something most people ever get to do. I met one of the creators of Happily Ever After, the Magic Kingdom nighttime show that happens to be my absolute favorite. I didn't expect to be emotional. I was.
We even got to shop at the cast members-only store, which my teens thought was pretty incredible.
And then there was the Disneyland park access. Behind-the-scenes tours of attractions that my teenagers still talk about. Bonus Lightning Lanes that kept the day flowing. Private viewing sections for Paint the Night Parade and World of Color that made those moments feel like they were designed just for us.
There truly is no single highlight. The whole trip was the highlight.
And Then There's Kristina
Here's something I didn't expect from either of these trips.
We were lucky enough to have the same Adventure Guide, Kristina, for both adventures. What started as incredible professional care quietly became something more. Kristina has become a part of our family. We still keep in touch. She knows my kids. She knows us.
That's not a perk you can put in a brochure. That's just what happens when the people leading your adventure genuinely love what they do.
Expert Guides Who Bring the Destination to Life
Kristina is a perfect example of what every Adventures by Disney® guide brings to the experience. These are not just tour leaders moving groups from point A to point B. They are local experts, historians, storytellers, and problem-solvers... all wrapped into one person who is fully invested in making your trip exceptional.
They handle the logistics — transportation, dining, timing, pivots when a snowstorm has other plans — so you never have to. No language barriers to navigate. No schedule to stress over. No wondering if you made the right choices.
You just get to be present. And for families with tweens and teens who are at the age where they're noticing everything... that presence matters more than you realize.
Disney-Level Attention to Detail, Everywhere You Look
When you travel with Adventures by Disney®, the same care that goes into every detail of a Disney park experience travels with you.
Hotels are handpicked, not just for luxury, but for location and convenience. Meals are curated to reflect the destination while still making sure everyone at the table finds something they love. Experiences are layered with intention, from an exclusive flamenco show in Spain to making homemade pasta in Italy, so that every moment feels immersive rather than just checked off a list.
And because Disney always keeps families at the center, there's something meaningful for every age. Junior Adventurer activities for younger kids. VIP behind-the-scenes moments for teens and adults. A pace that actually makes sense for real families living real lives.
Exclusive Access That Changes How You See the World
One of the things that continues to surprise even me is the level of access Adventures by Disney® quietly delivers.
Conversations with working Imagineers. A cast members-only shopping experience. Private parade viewing. Behind-the-scenes attraction tours. Early entry for private tours. These aren't upgrades you can purchase on your own. They exist because Disney has spent years cultivating relationships with venues, experts, and partners around the world... and then they hand that access to you.
You don't feel like a tourist. You feel like an insider. And that shift changes everything about how you experience a place.
Stress-Free, Start to Finish
I plan travel for a living, and I still exhale the moment an Adventures by Disney® trip begins.
Because everything is handled. Every transfer. Every reservation. Every moment of "what do we do now?" answered before you even think to ask. If something unexpected happens (see: Grand Canyon snowstorm), your guides are already three steps ahead.
For families with teens especially, this matters. The years when your kids are old enough to have opinions and preferences but young enough to still want to be with you... those years are precious. Adventures by Disney® lets you actually be together instead of managing the logistics of being together.
The Disney Difference
There are a lot of ways to see the world. And many of them are wonderful.
But Adventures by Disney® is the experience I keep choosing for my own family because it delivers something most trips don't... the feeling that every single detail was designed for us. The access. The guides. The moments we didn't see coming. The connection that outlasts the trip itself.
We're heading out on our third adventure this summer, and I genuinely cannot wait!
If you're curious whether Adventures by Disney might be the right fit for your family, I'd love to talk through it. This is one of those experiences that's easier to feel than to explain — and I've felt it enough times now to know it's worth every bit of the investment.
Let's start planning your adventure.
