The Client Story That Reminded Me Why I Do This

Every now and then, a trip comes along that stops me in my tracks. Not because it was the most elaborate itinerary I've ever built or the most luxurious destination on the map. But because I could see, in real time, exactly what thoughtful planning gave someone that they never could have found on their own.

This is one of those stories.

Over the years I've had the privilege of helping hundreds of families plan vacations. And while every trip matters to me, occasionally one arrives that feels like a genuine reminder of why I chose this work in the first place.

I believe travel should be personal, curated to the people taking it, and filled with something special for every single person in the group. Not cookie-cutter. Not generic. Specific to the family, the moment, and what they actually need from a trip. That's what I try to build into every itinerary, and it's what this particular trip delivered in full.

A Grandmother, a Dream, and a Five-Year-Old's First Disney Trip

A while back I had the honor of working with a set of grandparents who were planning on taking their five-year-old granddaughter to Walt Disney World for the very first time.

From our very first conversation, it was clear this was not just a trip. It was a gift. The kind of experience grandparents dream about giving their grandchildren, watching them see that castle for the first time, watching them meet their favorite characters, watching their little face light up in a way it only can when the magic is completely real to them.

The challenge? They came to me completely overwhelmed. Disney World planning has layers that can genuinely stop first-time visitors in their tracks. The app. Lightning Lanes. Character reservations. Park strategies. Dining windows. It's a lot to navigate if you don't know the system, and they were honest with me from the start: they didn't know where to begin.

So we began together.

What the Work Actually Looks Like

I walked them through every step. We set up their Disney app together. I answered every question they had, and there were many, without ever making them feel like any question was too small. I made sure they understood exactly how everything worked before they ever left home, so that when they arrived at the gates, they felt confident rather than anxious.

I built their itinerary around one priority: their granddaughter's character moments. Those interactions were the heart of the trip, the hugs, the wide eyes, the personalized attention from her favorite Disney friends that a five-year-old carries with her for years after the confetti settles. Every other piece of planning supported that goal, including finding a last minute reservation at Topolino’s Terrace Character breakfast days before travel.

And then, while they were there, I checked in. Not because it was required, but because I genuinely wanted to know how it was going. Sharing in that joy from a distance is one of the quiet privileges of this work that I don't take lightly.

What They Came Home Saying

When they returned, this grandmother sent me a review that I will keep for a very long time.

She wrote that I made her feel completely at ease, that I walked her through every step with patience and genuine care, and that because of the planning we did together, her granddaughter experienced character interactions that truly made her trip magical.

And then she wrote this: "Aubrey didn't just help us plan a vacation. She helped create memories we will treasure for a lifetime."

I read that and felt exactly what I always hope to feel at the end of a trip like this. Not pride in the logistics, but gratitude for the trust. This family handed me something precious, a dream they had been holding for their granddaughter, and asked me to help protect it. That is not something I ever take casually.

Why This Story Matters Beyond One Family

I'm sharing this not to highlight one particularly sweet trip, though it absolutely was that. I'm sharing it because this story speaks to something I hear underneath almost every inquiry I receive.

I don't know where to start.

I don't want to get it wrong.

I want it to be special but I'm not sure how to make that happen.

That feeling is exactly what I'm here for. Whether you're a first-time Disney visitor, a grandparent wanting to give a grandchild something unforgettable, or anyone who has ever looked at the planning process and quietly wondered if it's worth the effort... the answer is yes. And you don't have to figure it out alone.

Good travel planning isn't about complicated spreadsheets or knowing every insider trick. It's about having someone genuinely invested in your trip who knows the right questions to ask, the right things to prioritize, and how to build an experience that actually fits the people taking it.

That's what I do. Every time.

Who Would You Take?

Before you go, I want to ask you something.

If you could give the gift of an expertly planned trip to anyone in your life, who would it be? A grandchild experiencing Disney magic for the first time? A parent who has never seen the world beyond their own backyard? A best friend who needs a reset more than anything else right now?

Whoever came to mind just now... that trip is worth planning. And I would love to help you make it happen.
